Assembly
The bush should be installed into its housing with
an interference fit. The preferred method for installation is freeze
or shrink fitting. Alternatively, the bush may be press fitted into
its housing providing care is taken to ensure correct alignment under
the press to avoid damage to the bush outside diameter or housing.
For thin-walled bearings a press-in guide mandrel is recommended.
Mating material
The mating material (eg shaft) hardness should be at
least 100 BHN above that of the DYN bronze. It should be fine ground
to a surface finish of better than 0.8Ra and for minimum wear should
be better than 0.4Ra.
Machining
The machining characteristics of DYN bronzes are the
same as other commercially available bronzes. Sliding surfaces should
be finished by fine machining to provide a smooth surface. Fine turning
is suitable for cylindrical components with reaming and broaching
acceptable for smaller diameters.
Total Quality
DYN Metal is committed to quality in everything it
does in the products it supplies and the service it provides. The
company is accredited with BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
